Start a video meeting

GATE Meet gives your organization branded video rooms that live alongside the rest of your work. Your team joins while signed in; clients and other outside guests open the room link without creating a GATE account.

You can start from the Meet dashboard or simply ask your bot to create a meeting.

Before the first call

Meet must be enabled for your organization. The GATE operator also has to connect the server to its LiveKit media plane. That platform service unlocks Live video meetings; if it is missing, the room controls may exist but participants cannot join a working call. Ask your admin if Meet shows as locked.

An org owner can set the name, logo, colors, and branded Meet subdomain from the Branding page. Without a custom brand, links use the server's default Meet host.

Start and share

  1. Open Meet → Rooms and create a room, or ask your bot: "Start a video meeting called Acme kickoff."
  2. Add an optional scheduled time. The room link works immediately even when a time is shown on the invitation.
  3. Copy the join link and send it to the people you want in the call.
  4. Open the link yourself. The first eligible org member to join becomes the room owner and gets the host controls.

New room links use an unguessable grouped key rather than a human name. Treat the link as an invitation: anyone who has it can reach the lobby.

Let guests in

Outside guests choose a display name and knock. They do not need a GATE login, but they do not enter the meeting unnoticed: the owner or another authorized org member admits or denies each knock from the host panel.

Inside the room, use the normal camera, microphone, device, and screen-sharing controls. If your org has enabled a branded room, the same brand follows guests through pre-join and the call itself.

End and review

Use End meeting when the call is over. The room moves into Meet history, where authorized org members can see the ended meeting and participant timeline. Ending a room stops that meeting; it does not expose another org's history or settings.
